The Adventure Begins

After I had everthing packed, I went to bed, but I couldn't really fall asleep. We got up at about 1:30, I said goodbye to Chris and we left home at about 2:45. I slept a little in the car, and we got to Vienna at a little past 5. Diddi and Daniel were already there and also this other girl from lower Austria called Luzia, but we all call her Lucy. We checked in, said goodbye and then we were off. Lucy and Diddi with tears and Dani and I with a sparkle of expectation in our eyes. The first flight was about one hour and 15 minutes. When we got off the plain there was a guy waiting for us, with an AFS sign. He was really nice, he led us to our next gate, and then left. We sat for about an hour on the floor waiting, plazing cards and talking. The flight from Frankfurt to Caracas was about 10 hours long. I can't really sleep on plains because it's so uncomfortable, but i watched to movies. One of the movies was Kung Fu Panda, and I wrote down this saying



Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mistery, but today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

Getting the visa

Last Thursday Diddi and I went to Vienna to get our visa. On the train we met Daniel, a guy from Carinthia, who is also going to Peru this year. He was very helpful and we found the Peruvian embassy in Vienna quite easily.
The consulate, a rather tall, skinny guy, who mostly spoke Spanish with us, looked at us carefully and after he was done with one of us, he sent us outside to wait. It was funny, because before we went into his office Diddi and Daniel seemed really nervous and he gave them every right to be. But what made his office more comfortable was that there was music in the background and he kept tapping his foot and singing along to the music =)
When we were done, we still had lots of time left, so we went to Stephansplatz and sat down for a drink. We also went to the "Manner"- shop and bought some sweets.
The Daniel brought Diddi and me to the train station and we went home. This trip was fun!
Diddi's mom got Diddi that night. We had lots of fun together. =)

Going - away - party

Last Friday I had a going-away-party. It was really fun. 8 girls came, although I had invited more,...and then there was Nick, Alex, Traude, Gerhard, Erdrun and Franz. My parents prepared the food for many hours, and I helped wherever I could. At the party we talked a lot, played volleyball and ate the amazing food. The girls sat at the table to eat,....and the boys sat on the swings. =)

Later on, everyone gathered in the living room, and we first watched a video of me singing at the concert, and then we watched a couple of videos about Peru and Piura. Then I played the guitar and sang, and everyone who knew the lyrics sang along. Then we played a game, where everyone got a piece of paper with the name of a celebrity on it stuck on their head. For example, my dad was Hilary Clinton, my brother was Heidi Klum, and they had to guess who they were by asking questions like "Am I an American?" It was really fun!!!

In the evening there was a really bad storm outside and some of the girls had to go home by taxi, because their parents couldn't come get them.

The party was a big success. It was extremely fun, the food was incredible and we had a good time.

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!!

I created this blog so people can experience with me my adventure in Peru. In exactly two weeks ( not counting today) I will be sitting on an airplane and flying to a continent I have never been to.

There is so much to prepare, from getting a visa, getting shots to packing lightly, since I'm only allowed to take 20 kg with me. Oh, and having a going-away party, which was a lot of fun, by the way.


Tomorrow Diddi is coming. She's also going to Peru, but to a different city. I'm going to Piura, which is really close to Ecuador, and Diddi will be a little further south in Chiclayo.

There were some complications with our visa, so we have to go to Vienna on Thursday to get things straightened out.

I have to prepare a presentation about Austria in Spanish, which Diddi and I are going to work on together. I wonder if they even know where Austria is...
